About Me

Using bits and pieces of paper I have created many cards and scrapbook pages to share with my family and friends. Occasionally, I have taught classes in scrapbooking and was a Design Team Leader at a local store. Lately, I have been focusing on creating cards for various challenges.

Thoughts Are With You

Color Throwdown #298
A mix of pinks and purples for this card. The script background piece was achieved by first layering Tim Holtz Distress inks in dusty concord and spun sugar then stamping a script background stamp in vintage sepia ink.

Ink-Tim Holtz Distress (Dusty Concord, Spun Sugar), VersaMagic (wheat, sahara sand), VersaFine (Onyx Black,  Vintage Sepia)

For All You Do

Deconstructing Jen #157

Deconstructed Sketch No. 157
The flowers in the dress and the color combination from the Colour Q challenge inspired this card. I used the sketch from DS to highlight the patterned flowers that I made for the corner.

Freshly Made Sketches 141 challenge was the inspiration behind this card. I had paper from Kaisercraft that I wanted to use so that's where I started. Instead of cutting small pieces and placing them on the card, I cut one large background piece and layered black strips for the cross-sections.

Stamps-Inkadinkado, Hero Arts (Everyday Sayings)
Inks-Tim Holtz Distress (Mowed Lawn, Peacock Feather), Versafine (Onyx Black)
Patterned Paper-Kaisercraft (Afresh)

Thoughts Are With You

Began this card with the Retro Sketch and added a script sentiment for this simple Thinking of You. I used the papers from the Carta Bella Traditions 6x6 paper pad. Somewhat reminiscent of one of Gramma's patchwork quilts which reminds me of comfort.

Stamps-Stampabilities (Thoughts Are With You), Technique Tuesday (Little Sentiments)
Ink-VersaFine (Onyx Black), VersaMagic (Wheat)
Die-MFT (Framed Greetings)
Patterned Paper-Carta Bella (Traditions 6x6 pad)

Sailboat Birthday

June's Diva Dare at Verve Stamps was to create a masculine card. I started with this week's Mojo Monday sketch, added the sailboat image which I had colored with the watercoloring technique. I decided on vibrant colors of red, white and blue to add to the celebration feeling.

Stamps-Verve (Small Celebrations), Inkadinkado
Ink-Staz-On (black), ColorBox (Harbor)
Patterned Paper-Bazzill Basics (Ticking)

Sweet Pea Inspiration

Using the photo as inspiration, I started by using Tim Holtz Distress inks in 3 colors on white cardstock (spun sugar, worn lipstick, dusty concord) and then stamped the image in black. I used a pink floral patterned paper for the background and added a lavender trim.

Distressed Gardener

Saturday's Kraftin' Kimmie challenge #234 was to use distressing. I began with the sketch from Tuesday Morning, added papers from Carta Bella Traditions 6x6  paper pad, and an adorable gardener from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps. The edge was punched with an EK border punch.

Swinging Lulu

Couldn't resist using this adorable image of Lulu swinging. I used this bright and cheery paper for the background. Added a simple flag and flowers for dimension.

Ink-VersaFine (Onyx Black), VersaMagic (Persimmon)
Patterned Paper-Doodlebug (Citrus Squeeze Dotted Line)

Floral Wishes

I'm not quite sure what happened to the background color but in person it's much closer to the bermuda bay in the challenge. I was inspired by the swirl of floral up the side of the cake so that's the focus of my card. I layered several paper flowers on top of a white embossed stamped image.

Stamps-Hero Arts (Flower Swirl Vine), Verve (Small Celebrations)
Ink-VersaMark (watermark)
Embossing Powder-Stam 'n Stuff (Opaque Detail White)
Flowers-Bazzill, Kaizer, Prima

Golden Birthday Wishes

I used both the photo and the sketch to design this card. Gold is the obvious theme for this card. I layered the stamps across the bottom added butterflies, ribbon, and a decorative tag.

To the Bride and Groom

Used the inspiration photo from CAS(E) this sketch #81 to create a wedding card for a family member. Used white and gold for the color scheme and added a butterfly to the upper corner.

Best Wishes

Best Wishes was created for the Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge #233 which was to create a birthday card. I've chosen a cute stamp from Rainy Day Fun for the image. It's new and I couldn't wait to make a card with it. I also used Birthday Trinkets for the sentiment on the card. This card will be perfect for a little boy's birthday!

Supplies: Stamps-Kraftin'Kimmie (Rainy Day Fun & Birthday Trinkets), Ink-VersaFine (onyx black), Memento (tangelo), Patterned Paper-Chatterbox (olive poolhouse paisley, poolhouse stripe), buttons, colored pencils

Enjoy the Season

It's been a while since I've posted any of the cards I've made. Today I'm adding a card for the Merry Monday #112 challenge which need to include a santa hat. This cute bunny dressed in his santa hat seemed to fit the bill.

Supplies: Digi Image-Wee Stamps (christmas bunny), Inks-Tim Holtz Distress (frayed burlap), Patterned Paper-MAMBI (kraft with white christmas words), Dimensional Tag-Making Memories (St. Nick collection), Die-Spellbinders, Liquid Pearls (white opal), Ribbon, Colored Pencils
